SMARTRURAL Project – 2nd Meeting

The second meeting of the SMARTRURAL project partners (Erasmus + KA203 project – Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education Towards smart rural tourism development in Europe, acronym SMARTRURAL) took place on the 27th of March, 2020 online. The project concerns modern forms of education in the field of rural development and rural tourism. The meeting took a slightly different form than planned and took place online. Originally, the partners were to meet at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), but unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic thwarted the plans. During the meeting, participants shared their experiences on the first activities in the project, and also referred to the planned course programs and modules addressed to students, but also to people dealing with rural tourism. In the near future, all partners participating in the project will deal with specific topics divided into modules, i.e.: introduction to tourism (smart tourism), sustainability, creativity and design, design thinking, modern business models, digitization. Syllabuses, methodology, and initial proposals for a pilot program will be developed as the next step. The next meeting is scheduled for late October in Alicante (Spain).

It concerns modern forms of education in the field of rural development and rural tourism. The meeting was online due to the pandemic situation. It was hosted by the University of Alicante (Spain). The partners in the project shared information on the implemented activities, including the results of the evaluation of training program prepared by specialists from 7 countries and evaluated by External and Internal Advisory Boards. In the next months, it is planned to teach the trainers, who in next step will conduct trainings on intelligent solutions for rural tourism destinations (pilot phase). The training will be attended by students from 7 countries, including Czech Republic, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey. Finally students will prepare projects for 5 pilot towns (in each country) where rural tourism is developing. The next meeting is planned at the Pegaso Universita Telematica in Naples (Italy), if the pandemic situation allows it.
